Hierarchy of Needs

So I'm house-sitting. I never fail to amaze myself when I look at my hierarchy of needs and what is required to establish a comfort zone.

Not knowing how long I'm going to be here, first I grab the overnight bag (bodyspray, Eee, phone charger, screwdriver, hairbrush, meds, huge cat5e cable). Then I quickly stack up all the bits of a proper PC. Ok only one monitor, but there's proper sound. Then I throw some bedsheets, some clothes (mostly in need of washing) and the mascot kitten in a bag, raid the freezer for a weeks supply of sausage and salt-pork, and scavenge some tins and pasta.

I get here, make a fuss of the cat, change the litter tray, start washing up, read a book, fall asleep on settee, wake up, break out the Eee and huge cable, make bed, put mascot kitten on desk, consume google reader, Sleep, wake up, eat, break out PC, ssh into the video recorder (mythtv) back home and check the upcoming recordings for clashes, put Gary Numan on in the background (ssh tunnelling mt-daapd/firefly needs a trick or two if you want to share a remote server with a local network, here I'm just using the one host), start writing this, wonder where I can get some clothes washing detergent from round here, remember to take my meds, put phone on charge because I remembered I might need to.

One day I'll pack in the right order.

One day I'll have an adequate laptop.
