Of returns, leavings, travelings and upgrades.

My on-line presence has been feeding people the Drupal BSOD for a few weeks so I thought I'd confirm that I'm still alive and still in search of cake. Of course to do this I've first fixed the BSOD, which deserves at east a committment point for doing it on my Eee in a bedroom otherwise devoid of stuff. Well there's a USB lamp illuminating my keyboard, an overnight bag containing clean underwear and 2 LARP costumes and Pixel is no doubt about to jump on the keyboard, but the wall of tech, the wall of sound and other assorted junk has gone to Doncaster.

I've returned to Leeds for Halloween and the weekend, and the associated festivities. Thursday saw me lose my voice through the barking madness of an in-character pubmeet before wandering into LUU Rocksoc's Halloween party, mostly in order to have made it to the event on 7 consecutive years. E-hats should be raised to the wearer of the pacman ghost costume. I'd privide a pic but I'd have to fix the Rocksoc gallery first...

I mostly slept through Friday, and later on today is one of Taz and Werewolf Dave's legendary Halloween parties. I may well post a hall of shame.

Why the BSOD? It's mostly the reslut of a half-arsed server image refresh. Paying clients got an almost seamless transition, whereas my own sites have been on the back burner.

Why the server refresh? It was playing up in mysterious ways, and instead of doing a straight restore I decided it was a handy time to try running the linode 64-bit, plug some security loopholes with mpm-itk, and try xcache. It all seems to be working faster and various minor annoyances are gone :-).

Talking of which, Pixel has emerged to help me so I'm going to post before it's too late.
