Backup, backup, and don't mention Fred Durst

rdiff-backup is awesome. It's a POSIX backup tool providing a (possibly remote) mirror and an incremental difference history (should that be decremental history?) of the mirror.

BackupNinja (website currently down) is even better. It's a curses (ie text based) wizard for setting up a number of backup tools including rdiff-backup and mysqldump. It does all the fiddly bits like handling ssh keys and setting up cron jobs.

White-Tack

I wish, I wish i had a camera. I just tried to pick up the keybard that I had cunningly white-tacked to the monitor on top of my music-box (because all the keyboard gets used for is logging in, and the occasional 3 finger salute. Anyway, the monitor decided it wasn't letting go of the keyboard. Maybe I should try the same UHU white-tack to stick a TFT to the ceiling over the bed? As a testement to the obscene sticking power, the monitor in question was an old Dell badged trinitron 15inch CRT....
